Halloween Candy Hands
A couple of years ago my niece was given a plastic glove filled with little candies, toys, and other goodies for Christmas from one of my sister-in-law’s friends. My niece was absolutely thrilled, and I knew I wanted to try out the idea with my own kids. We made these candy hands for the very first time last year for the entire neighborhood as the prize at the end of this Halloween scavenger hunt and to say they were a hit would be an understatement. The kids were thrilled and ripped open the hands to see what kind of prizes they got inside. They’re like Halloween goodie bags but better. They’d also be super fun in you’ve been booed buckets. Or as the prizes for this Halloween bingo game! This year I decided to make them into Halloween party favors for my son’s classroom party. But instead of just putting them in their take home bags, I thought it’d be fun to do a play on the typical Halloween candy sign that says “take one handful of candy” and do one hand full of candy instead. Cute right? Anyway, here’s how I made them! I’ve also included three different free printable Halloween candy bowl signs toward the end of this post if you want to download those to use with your candy bowl this year!

Supply Notes
I picked up everything for our hands at our local Hy-Vee store. They have a huge selection of Halloween candy (even the gummy body parts I used in my Halloween punch), favors, and decorations. Order online for pickup here. Or just grab your favorites after enjoying a little Hy Vee breakfast!
Halloween favors and toys – make sure that whatever you get fits into your hands. I like to do a couple of little toys or favors in each of the hands to give them some bulk without just loading the kids with candy. Halloween candy – make sure to get some longer, skinny candies to put into the fingers and some larger size candy packs like Skittles or M&Ms to give bulk to the candy. You can also grab some smaller things to fill in the gaps but the fingers are really the most important! You could also do Halloween treats like pre-packaged Halloween rice krispie treats, Little Debbie snacks, etc. Plastic rubber bands – I like to use these because they are clear so the hands look like they’re actually sealed on their own. Alternately, you could also tie these off with some ribbon if you want them to be more cutesy. Plastic gloves – I like to use the clear food prep gloves like these ones but you could also use latex ones as well, they’re just not as clear as these ones.
How to Make Halloween Candy Hands
These are really the easiest things to make – that’s why I love them so much! They’re also a great project to do with the kids – my oldest son loves helping me fill these!
1 – Fill the Fingers
Start by filling the fingers of each of the gloves with the longest skinny candies to give them the look of having actual fingers. You can either do just one piece of candy or do a small piece of candy at the bottom of the finger for a finger nail and a longer one to finish off the finger. There are a lot of different types of candy you can use in the fingers but to give you some ideas, these are always good options:

You get it – anything that’s longer than it is wide.
2 – Add Favors and Toys
I like to add in some Halloween favors next since a lot of times they’re a bit bigger and need adequate room to fit into the hands. Candy is easier to squish around the favors. You can really put anything Halloweenish in these – stickers, rings, glowsticks, toys, slap bracelets. Just make sure they fit into the palm of the glove without coming out the bottom.
3 – Fill in with Candy
Fill the rest of the space in the glove with the additional candy or treats. This is where I like to add some bulk with larger packages of candy as well as fill in the gap with some smaller treats so that the hand seems completely full, even if there’s really not THAT much in it.
4 – Finish the Candy Hands
Finish off the hands by securing the bottom of them with a clear plastic rubber band. This is why you need to make sure anything you put into the hands fits within the glove and doesn’t stick out. You can also add a little Halloween ribbon around the rubber bands if you want but I was giving them out to a class with the majority of them boys, so I stuck with just rubber bands.
5 – Give Out Each Hand Full of Candy
Put the hands in a Halloween bucket, bowl, or even just one a table along with the printable “take one hand full of candy” sign that you can download below for seriously the cutest Halloween favors ever! Just be forewarned, once you do this once, you’ll never go back because kids will be asking for these candy hands every year!
